Our fifth and final African stop was in Agadir, Morocco. This was the only African stop on our original itinerary. Agadir is a city of nearly 1 million people on the west coast of Morocco. Most of the city was destroyed in an earthquake in 1960. Afterwards, it was rebuilt as a resort city.
Agadir has a beautiful beach and is a major tourist destination. We were visiting during Ramadan, so few things were open and there were few (if any) Moroccan tourists (it is popular with Moroccans during other times of the year). But there were many tourists from Europe and Britain, as is typical.
Because there was little open, we decided a beach walk was in order. It was a great soft, flat, golden sand beach and we thoroughly enjoyed our day.
